Swallow mixed media tag

Hi there! Thought I would indulge myself in a bit of messiness since I can access all my craft stuff now! I decorated an MDF tag and this is what I did.
I began by giving it a couple of coats of gesso.

Whilst it dried I mixed a few shakes of Mars explosion powders with some translucent distress crackle paste in a milk bottle lid (You won't need any more than this)
I applied it with a palette knife through the tag inkables. This was set aside to dry naturally until the crackles appeared (There will be little or no crackle if you use a heat gun)
I sprayed the tag with Dylusions and metallic spray stains. I also added a few shakes of explosion powders before setting aside to dry. At this stage a few bits did flake off, so once dry I sprayed it with a spray varnish.
On a piece of white card I stamped and coloured the swallow using versafine clair ink and ecoline pens. I then cut it out using the matching die.
Next I stamped the mandala in versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. I coloured it with ecoline pens and cut it out
I added the swallow and the mandala to the tag using gel medium, then added a sentiment and a ribbon.
Here's a close up of the crackle

Here is what I used:
Versamark ink
Spray varnish
scraps of card for the bird, sentiment and mandala
Ribbon

If you are in Notts or Derbyshire, I am running a workshop at PDA Card and Craft, Langley Mill on Wednesday 13th July to make a mixed media tag using these stamps and inkables. If you would like to join us you can book by ringing Kayla on 01773 712266

A very quick and simple card whilst moving back in to the craft room!

Hi There! Hope you haven't melted with the heat! I am here with a super quick card for you today, that I inked once it had cooled down a bit last night.

I began by taping the mandala to a 5x5" white card blank and blending a rainbow of distress inks through.
Next I removed the inkable and stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair black ink.
I also stamped the heart border and used ecolines to colour the hearts. I told you it was a quick one.
Here's the finished card again. Told you it was super quick!
I used:

This was the state of the craft room yesterday morning when it was still quite neat. Nothing seems to be going back as planned lol. It seems to have expanded in the past week! Hopefully it will all be sorted by the end of the weekend. Wish me luck!

A sunflower card

Hi There! Today I thought I would show you how I made this single layer card.

I began by using the 4" Sunflower easy frame inkable, blending  distress oxide ink around it.

Next I popped the innie inkable in and blended a little vintage photo distress oxide ink through the petals.
I then stamped the Doodle Art mandala in the centre using brown versafine clair ink.
I coloured the mandala with ecoline pens, but then I felt the petals weren't quite prominent enough...
so I took a brown fine liner and outlined the petals in the style of Bev.
I placed the innie over the sunflower and added twisted citron distress ink through the fernando big one inkable.
I stamped a small border stamp (this one is from the regular Doodle Art sunflower set) and added some liquid pearls to the mandala and the border.
finally I added a sentiment from the small words set.
Here is my finished card.
I used:
5x5" card blank
Distress ink in Twisted Citron
Versafine clair brown ink
liquid pearls

Crafting is minimal for me at the moment, but the craft room renovations are progressing nicely. Here are a few photos from this week.

3 days for the plaster to dry out then the painting can begin. I will be doing a little live for Bee Crafty on Wednesday evening at 8pm on their facebook page if you fancy joining me.

Busy as a Bee!

Hi there! I am here with a quick and simple card for you today. Here is how I made it.
I began by blending distress oxide ink through the inkable.

Next I stamped some of the honeycomb stamp from the XL Doodle Art Bee set  in the same ink. I also stamped the border in brown Versafine Clair ink.

I took a piece of watercolour paper and stamped the largest bee in black versafine ink
I coloured it with ecoline pens and cut it out, using a waterbrush to blend the colours on the wings
I attached it to the card using 3d glue and coloured the border. I had left a little fingerprint so disguised it by adding the splatters from the regular sunflower set in vintage photo distress ink. I also stamped 4 flowers from the sunflower set, coloured with moonlight gelly roll pens and a water brush, and added them at the corners. A few more highlights with the gelly roll pens on the bee, plus a sentiment finished it off.
I used:
XL Doodle art Bee set (This is discontinued, but the regular is available here)

I am currently busy moving everything out of my craft room as it is being replastered, starting on Monday. It will be out of action for at least a week. I am intending to reward myself with a trip to Stamp Magic a week tomorrow though, lol. Well, a girl needs some incentive 😂 Are you going? It would be lovely to see some familiar faces.
