Happy Father's day

Here are the two cards I made for Father's day this year. The first is for my Dad. We were chatting about a holiday he took some years ago where he visited Skomer in June. There were puffins everywhere! This was the ideal opportunity to use my new puffin stamps from Hobby Art , the current monthly special. I coloured them with a mixture of Zig clean color markers and distress markers. I am entering this one into the current challenge at Penny Black and more where the theme is anything goes

For my Father-in-Law I used one of Dora's digis - a squirrel drawn from one of my photos. I used a woodgrain embossing folder and made a circular aperture in a piece of Kraft card. The leaves are from a stamp set by Hobby art. You can find Dora's digis here on her blog.
I do hope you are having a good weekend and not suffering too much with the heat. Do forgive me if I don't visit so much for a couple of weeks as I am writing reports at the moment - five done, 22 to go!

Father's Day cards

I am sorry I haven't been around blog land much this week. It is report writing season and I need to get them done by next weekend, so I will be back soon. I have two cards to share with you today. One is for my dad and one is for Steve from Meg. Meg normally makes her own, but she has had three A level exams this week, so that is what she has been concentrating on.
First up is Steve's card...
For this one I used stamps from Inky Doodles . I made a little scene with my ink dusters then stamped the ducks ( On the Riverbank set), rushes, leaves (woodland walk set) and the boardwalk (Great outdoors set). Two of thses sets were purchases from Stamp Magic earlier in the month. I coloured the foreground detail with promarkers. The base card was stamped with fern leaves from Inkylicious in cracked pistachio.
My second card is a little watercoloured scene for my Dad
For this one I used Hobby Art stamps - the Harbour Scene-it set and coloured it with Aquamarkers - I haven't used mine in ages, but always tend to reach for them when I use Hobby Art stamps.
As I have used stamps I am entering my cards into the Allsorts challenge this week, and also My ducks have wings so I am entering them into the Penny Black and More Challenge where the theme is wings. I have made a third Father's day card for Steve's Dad (His 95th father's day) but I have made a very similar one for a magazine article that won't be out until August, so I will share it then!
Thanks for looking!

Grassiness for Father's Day!

Here is my Father's Day Card, and for those of you who are regular visitors he is doing very well! He had his hip replacement in March and is now managing to walk a good mile, sometimes more several times a week. He is looking forward to going back to play table tennis, but he can't for another month. He is 84 and very active! He loves to watch the birds and has always done a lot of walking, so a swallow over the reed beds seemed an ideal choice! All stamps from Inkylicious and the background was created with Ink Dusters, Adirondack, Impress and Distress inks.
The next card is for Steve's Dad. At 92 he is a little less active than my dad, but still manages a weekly shopping trip to town and loves to go and sit on a park bench in the local nature reserve/park. There were thousands of dandelions there a few weeks ago, and he too loves watching the wildlife. The stamps are mostly inkylicious, with a few Hobby Art and a Lavinia park bench.
Then I decided to have another play with the Whispering Winds stamp. It is so simple, but so versatile!
First I made a sunrise with Impress and Adirondack inks. I dotted a gold gel pen on the seed heads too.
Next I used the off-cut to make a CAS card inspired by the paper packaging that comes with the stamp - some of Deby's own art work. I used a touch of gold embossing powder on the seed heads this time.
I also made a CAS card using the Poppy Lea stamp.

Finally I have a card to show you that a friend of mine made. She used to make lots of cards until she was very ill in 2008, and her eyesight, hearing, speech and dexterity were affected. Having never used an ink duster before this is what she produced after a little lesson from me!
I am very proud of my student!!! I am hoping she will be encouraged to dust off her stamps and start making cards once more.
Tomorrow sees the wonderful Stamp Magic show at the Doncaster Dome. I will be there and will probably visit the Inkylicious stand for a little while, so if you see me come and say hello! I will be there with Lynne from Creative Lynks who has come down to visit for the weekend. She is my partner in crime when it comes to crafty spending, lol!

Father's Day

Happy Father's day to all you Dads out there. This is the card I made for my Dad. I thought it was particularly suitable as last time we went out for a walk with him we saw 4 buzzards! The stamps on the main picture are Hobby Art, watercoloured with my aqua markers and distress inks. The Fern (Rubber Stampede) on the base card was stamped in Kaleidacolor Autumn leaves.
