Inkylicious Ink Duster Tutorial

After a little persuasion from Meg we have made a video tutorial and I now have my very own You tube channel! I am popping it on here and it is also on my Tips for Ink Dusters page if you want to find it quickly.
All filming and editing has been done by Meg, and I have to say I think she has done a great job! Now I know how long it takes and what it all entails I will do some more, eventually! It is of a quality that will stand being seen at full screen too. Here is the finished card that I made.

It is a little different to the one shown on the end of the video, as that was my practice run before Meg recorded it. I hope this makes it clearer how I use my ink dusters, and how easy they are to use. There are more hints and tips on the ink duster page here.

Troubled Skies at Craft a Scene

It is the first Sunday in November and time for a new challenge at Craft a Scene. The theme this Month is Troubled Skies and I have been learning how to use my Cumulus stamp (Stampscapes) with a bit of help from Kevin on You Tube. The rest of the scene was created with my Inkylicious stamps - the Seascape Memories and Essential Grasses plates. I used a range of Adirondack inks and my ink dusters to create the background, then added a bit more detail with my distress markers, including the Picket fence one on the light house. I was feeling a bit worried about this theme, but I am quite pleased with my results.

Autumn landscape

It has been a glorious day here, admittedly a bit cold (about 5 degrees) and there was a dusting of snow this morning, but we have had the most wonderful walk at Linacre Reservoirs near Chesterfield. Here are quite a lot of photos!

This Mandarin Duck was so camouflaged in the branches of a fallen tree!

I love to go there at this time of year. The colours of the trees and the reflections are so very beautiful. You needed to be wrapped up, but it lifted the spirits to be out in the sunshine. I might have to try and recreate one or two of those landscapes...

A visit to see Lynne

Meg and I had a little trip to Scotland to see Lynne this week. Despite the forecast we had a good couple of days and managed a walk or two as well as a trip to Sweetheart Abbey and the National Costume Museum.
Thought I would share a few photos.

 The grass really was that green!

Lovely walks

As it's half term we have enjoyed a couple of walks whilst the weather has been better. Yesterday we returned to the Robin Hood's way near Walesby for a lovely stroll in the afternoon sunshine.

 This photo was taken by Robin Hood's Cave by the river Meden. I was hoping to see the buzzards and a woodpecker again, but it wasn't to be, although there were still lots of Fungi.

We ventured a little further this time and on this lovely stretch of river we saw the unmistakeable blue flash of Kingfishers. I'm no where near a good enough photographer to capture a kingfisher in flight, so you will just have to believe me!
On the way back we spotted this little fella, sunning himself...

I think it's a Common Darter. He was so obliging, photographically and nearly landed on my head a couple of times!

We enjoyed a few more moments and then set off back for the car. As we entered the woodland we heard the unmistakeable soft hooting of a  tawny owl. So no Buzzards or woodpeckers, but owls and kingfishers instead - wonderful!

Today we had a lovely stroll around Shipley Country Park near Heanor, where we fed the ducks and swans,

admired the autumn colours, and marvelled at how laden the yew trees were with berries this year...
