Wild and Free Bee Tag

Hi There! Thought I would show you how I made this mdf tag for Bee Monarchy day.
I began by painting the MDF tag using acrylic paints. Some of these were shimmer/metallic and some were not. I painted them onto the tag blending the edges.

Next I used black gesso through the full honeycomb inkable and added a little more around the edges.
Once this was dry I added some stamping using the crowns and honeycomb stamps from the bee Monarchy set using a brown versafine Clair ink.
on a scrap piece of card I stamped the bee 3 times with versafine clair black ink. I coloured them with ecoline pens and cut them out using the die set
I stamped a sentiment from the small words set and added that and the bees to the tag using ultra thick gel medium.
Here is the finished tag with a little yellow ribbon though.
I used:
Dylusions paint in lemon Zest and Tangerine dream
Dylusions shimmer paint in Pure sunshine
Versafine Clair in black and brown

Swallow mixed media tag

Hi there! Thought I would indulge myself in a bit of messiness since I can access all my craft stuff now! I decorated an MDF tag and this is what I did.
I began by giving it a couple of coats of gesso.

Whilst it dried I mixed a few shakes of Mars explosion powders with some translucent distress crackle paste in a milk bottle lid (You won't need any more than this)
I applied it with a palette knife through the tag inkables. This was set aside to dry naturally until the crackles appeared (There will be little or no crackle if you use a heat gun)
I sprayed the tag with Dylusions and metallic spray stains. I also added a few shakes of explosion powders before setting aside to dry. At this stage a few bits did flake off, so once dry I sprayed it with a spray varnish.
On a piece of white card I stamped and coloured the swallow using versafine clair ink and ecoline pens. I then cut it out using the matching die.
Next I stamped the mandala in versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. I coloured it with ecoline pens and cut it out
I added the swallow and the mandala to the tag using gel medium, then added a sentiment and a ribbon.
Here's a close up of the crackle

Here is what I used:
Versamark ink
Spray varnish
scraps of card for the bird, sentiment and mandala
Ribbon

If you are in Notts or Derbyshire, I am running a workshop at PDA Card and Craft, Langley Mill on Wednesday 13th July to make a mixed media tag using these stamps and inkables. If you would like to join us you can book by ringing Kayla on 01773 712266

Seen MDF tag

One of the samples I did for the latest faces launch was this one. I remembered to take some photos as I went along so here is a step by step on how I made it.

First I brushed the three shades of dylusions paint  down the tag.
Once this was dry, I used the splat big one inkable to add some pure sunshine dylusions shimmer paint  with a stencil brush
Next I stamped the 'Seen' face onto Dina Wakely collage paper with versafine clair, cutting it out.
I used ecolines to colour the face and hair.

I used matte medium to attach it to the tag.
Once it was dry, I added some black gesso around the edges and through the brickwork dinkable.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from Handwritten words #2 in versamark and embossed in white. I added a little white ink around the edge too.
Finally I added the sentiment to the tag using 3d glue.
Here are links to the products I used:
Dylusions paints in Fresh Lime, Lemon Zest and Blue Lagoon
Dylusions shimmer paint in Pure Sunshine
Versamark ink

Hi there!  This month's challenge over on the Bee Crafty Stamps Facebook group is to show us your journal pages and tags. There are 3 entries allowed per person so you can do both if you wish to! Today I have an mdf doodle art dragonfly tag for you.

Ecoline pens

Watercolour paper

Black card

White embossing powder

Small words stamp set

Versafine ink - tuxedo black

Archival inks

Versamark ink

Copper gel pen

gel medium

I began by applying some grit paste through the stencils to the mdf tag

Once this was dry, I painted the tag with the three colours of paint.
Next I mixed a little clear gesso with the explosion powder and applied it over the raised areas on the tag.
I stamped the borders and circles with the archival ink.
Next I splattered the tag with a little of the gloss spray and left it to dry.

I stamped the dragonfly in versafine ink onto the watercolour paper, then coloured it with the ecoline pens.

I cut it out and stuck it to the tag with gel medium, applying a little glossy accents along the body.

Finally I stamped a sentiment onto black card and heat embossed in white, adding it to the bottom corner. I also added a few bits of copper gel pen to the tag and the butterfly.

Here is another look at the finished tag with a piece of coordinating ribbon.
