Texture

Hi There! We have a brand new theme of Texture for our challenge over on the Bee crafty Stamps group so I thought I would share how I made this textured background.
I began by covering a 10cm square of card in Matte Medium and scrunched up a piece of stamping tissue over the top before leaving it to dry

Once dry, I trimmed the edges and then sprayed with Distress oxide sprays.
When this was dry, I used a darker shade of distress oxide ink direct to the paper to bring out the texture some more.
I used the Bakewell Big one inkable to add a little coordinating ink to the base card.
On a separate piece of card, I stamped the Doodle Art Dragonfly in Black versafine Clair and cut it out.
I used Ecoline brush pens to colour it in.
I stuck the body of the dragonfly to the textured panel and added some glitter glue.
Here's the card once more...
along with a closeup of that texture. I have left it without a sentiment for now but will add an appropriate one when I use it.
I used:
Big ones Inkable - I used Bakewell
6x6" card
10 cm square of card
Distress oxide sprays - I used Peacock feathers and Squeezed lemonade
Distress oxide ink - I used Peacock Feathers and Uncharted Mariner
Glitter Glue

I hope this has encouraged you to experiment a little with texture!

A pair of vivid dragonfly cards

Hi There! I am here with a pair of cards to show you today. I've left sentiments for the inside because I fell in love with the background. Let me show you how I made them.

I found a piece of watercolour card that was 10cm x 20cm. I blended peacock feathers, twisted Citron, carved pumpkin and Wilted violet distress oxide inks across it (I know, its a bit dangerous putting purple and orange together. I'd intended putting the peacock feathers next to the wilted violet, but I messed up the order, lol)
Next, I sprayed the big one Bakewell inkable with water and laid it over the top. After about 30 seconds I lifted it off carefully and dried it with the heat tool. I didn't blot it because I wanted the colours to mix a little. This piece was then cut in half, making 2x 10cm square backgrounds.
Using the same colours of oxide inks I used some of the smaller stamps from journaling essentials #2 to add to the background, before placing this on one side.
I stamped the Doodle art dragonfly twice in Memento ink and coloured with alcohol markers before cutting them out. I also painted on a little distress spritz to add sparkle.
I splashed a little more distress spritz to the backgrounds before matting and layering onto 13cm square cards. Finally I added the dragonflies using matte medium
I love them both! I can see I will be using that background technique lots more lol.

I used:
Distress Oxide inks in Carved Pumpkin, Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers
Distress Spritz in Spiced Marmalade Wilted Violet and Worn Lipstick
Memento ink - Tuxedo black
Alcohol markers
2x 13cm square cards
2x 10cm square pieces of watercolour card
Black paper for matting and layering.

I hope you like my project today! Don't forget we have the Bee Crafty stamps facebook group challenge, where the theme is winter/ Christmas. I hope to see your entries there soon!

Connect with nature journal page

Hi There! Here is a page in my little journal that I made. Here's how I did it.

I began by blending Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted violet Distress oxide ink down the page.
Next I took a piece of stamping tissue and stamped it with the script background stamp in Bali Blue Versafine Clair.
I added it to the page using matte medium and left it to dry.
Once it was dry I removed the excess tissue from the edges and used the innie from the 4" circle easy frame to draw around with a distress crayon. I blended this with my finger
Using opaque texture paste and a tag inkable I added the swirl bottom left.
I had a Doodle Art dragonfly already stamped on to catalyst card that matched beautifully. I used a quicky glue pen and some gilding flakes to add a few highlights to the dragonfly and a faux stitched line to the background, before adding the dragonfly using matte medium.
Finally I added the wordy sticker sentiment.

I used:
Distress oxide ink in Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted violet
Versafine Clair ink in Bali Blue and Nocturne
Quickie glue pen
gilding flakes
Small journal/ sketchbook

Sorry I was missing last week. After 4 months of living with us after they had sold their house, our daughter and her partner got the keys to their new house. We helped them move in over a couple of days and they have been busy unpacking over the weekend. It's not easy when your possessions are spread between both parents houses and a storage unit. It sounds like they are making good progress now.

I will be live tonight over on the Bee Crafty Facebook page. I hope you can join me! Thanks for looking!

A super quick journal page

Hi There! I am here with a super quick journal page today as I was busy at the weekend with a karate tournament. I found this cute 12cm square Talens notebook and it had to become a journal for super quick mini projects!

I began by cutting a piece of A5 Catalyst card to fit the page, rounding the corners to leave a narrow border. I attached it using Matte Medium.

Next I used a tag inkable from set 5 to add some black soot Distress oxide to the middle of the page before setting it aside to dry

I stamped the doodle Art Dragonfly in Black Versafine Clair onto mixed media card and cut it out. I coloured it using coordinating colours of ecoline markers and added a few white highlights with a white gel pen
Using Matte Medium I added the dragonfly to the page, sticking it down just by the head and body, leaving the wings free.
Finally I added wordy stickers to finish the page.
I used:
Ecoline pens
White gel pen
Black soot distress oxide ink
Black Versafine Clair

This was super quick and easy and something similar would be a perfect entry for the challenge this month over in the Bee Crafty Stamps Facebook group. I hope you can join us!
As I said earlier, it was a very busy weekend, but I was delighted and a little shocked to come away with a silver medal for Team Kumite and a Double Gold for individual Kata and Kumite. Here's a photo of the over 55s medal winners. Region 30 bagged over half of the medals on offer and I was very proud of all of my students that entered.

Things with wings

Hi There! Thought I would show you how I made this card today. The theme for our Challenge over in the Bee Crafty Stamps group on facebook is 'things with wings' so this card is a little inspiration for you.
I began by blending distress inks around the left and lower edges of a 14cm square piece of smooth card.

Next I used the Blueprint sketch ink through a dinkable, leaving a little white space.
I stamped the dragonfly in Black Versafine Clair ink and watercoloured it.
Using the gellyroll moonlight pens, I added a little detail to the dragonfly once dry.
I stamped the ticker tape sentiment in Bali Blue ink on a scrap of white card.
Finally I added the card panel to the front of a white card then added the sentiment and dragonfly using matte medium.
I used:
Distress inks in Peacock Feathers, Wilted violet and Blueprint Sketch
Versafine Clair ink in Nocturne and Bali Blue

I do hope you will be able to join in with the challenge this month!

Glad you are here journal pages

Hi There! thought I would show you how I made these journal pages for my blog post today.

I began by spreading dylusions paint with my fingers over the two pages.
I gave it a little dry with a heat tool then sponged through a couple of tag inkables using white gesso
I set this aside then stamped the doodle Art mandalas onto stamping tissue using Monarch versafine clair ink. I cut them out and added them to the page using Matte Medium
Next I mixed a little gold mica powder with some water on a piece of acetate and smooshed and blobbed it onto the page, leaving it to dry.
I stamped the doodle art dragonfly twice on to stamping tissue and twice onto some mixed media paper. I cut them all out and coloured the mixed media paper ones using pencil crayons.
I stamped the mixed messages sentiment onto stamping tissue and cut it out
Back in the journal I stamped a few of the worker stamps from the dragonfly set using embossing ink, then heat embossed with detail gold powder.
Finally I added the sentiment and dragonflies to the page, positioning the coloured dragonflies over the tissue ones to replace the legs and dots I cut off when I cut them out.
Here is the finished page once more.

I used:
Dylusions paints in Blue lagoon, laidback lilac and peony blush
Tag inkables set 1 and 3
Gold mica powder
Embossing ink

I will be live over on the Bee Crafty Facebook page at 8pm tomorrow, so I hope you will join me.

A quick and simple dragonfly card

Hi there! Thought I would show you how I made this very quick and simple card today.

I began by blending a little salvaged patina distress ink through the Pebble pavement big one inkable onto a 6x6" white card. As this is a clean and simple card I used stencil tape to ensure I didn't go over the edge. I left a diagonal band without any blending.

I removed the big one and positioned the outie from the 4" circle easy frame inkable centrally on the card. I blended some villainous potion ink into the circle.
I used some of the worker stamps in opposite corners to stamp in the salvaged patina distress ink.

Next I stamped the dragonfly in memento ink on to a scrap of white card and coloured it with alcohol based markers. I cut it out, cutting off the legs.

I also stamped the dragonfly in memento ink directly onto the purple circle in the position I wanted it.

I used matte medium to attach the coloured one onto the front of the card, lifting the wings a little.
I added a little glossy accents to the body and parts of the wings.

Finally I added a sentiment.
Here is the finished card again

I used
Distress ink in Salvaged Patina and Villainous Potion
Alcohol markers
Black Memento ink

Did you see the facebook lives from Thursday's MDF day? They were amazing! You can catch up with Sam and Bev's on the Bee Crafty Facebook page, and Ann's is over in the Bee Crafty Stamps facebook group.
