Doodling at Less is More

The theme at Less is More this week is doodling on a one layer card. Now although I do doodle a bit sometimes, it is never in an arty way (more scribble than doodle to be honest!), so this was a bit out of my comfort zone. I thought of what stamps I have that have very little detail and opted for my Waltzing Mouse Tea time sets. I got out my set of fine tipped markers and set to. Here is my first attempt.
I thought this looked okay, but decided I should try a bit of Zentangle. A Zentangle teacup...
Please excuse the wonky photo. Now there is probably some rule that Zentangle should be just black and white, but I added a little bit of pastel blue promarker and cool grey promarker to give it some depth. Then the tea in the cup needed colouring too.
At this point I should've stopped, but no, I wanted to try something else, so I chose three colours and tried to decorate another kettle. Disaster! I think the problem was I tried to do stripes rather than random shapes. I will show you, but please don't consider it for the challenge!
It reminds me of a poem by Paul Cookson called 'I'm not going out like that in the jumper Grandma knitted!'. I bet this kettle is thinking the same!!! I think I'll stick to black and white in the future!
Well, thanks for looking and I'll hopefully pay a visit to my fellow LIMettes later in the week.

Love the zentangle Sally, looks very clean and crisp.

Just been to post below and made my apols. Just can't understand why so many don't show up on my dashboard, you are the third I've discovered today.

Brilliant, Sally. Love your kettle and your Zentangle is great! See what you mean with the third one but it still looks good - it's not as easy as it looks, is it? Good for you having a go, even if it's out of your comfort zone. I'm missing my stamps cos I'm reorganising my Craft Room - eeek!! Have a great week x

Well I like them all. My fav if I had to pick one is the second kettle the one you don't like. Oh well there is no accounting for taste LOL Honestly I like them all.

I like them all too Sally and well done for going out of your comfort zone. It would definitely have been out of mine too although I suppose my doodles when I'm hanging on waiting for someone to answer the phone besides a recording, do look rather zentangle like, lol! Your comment about Grandma's knitted jumper made me laugh and I can see why it made you think of it but I still reckon your kettle looks brilliant. Hugs Lesley Xx

Love these cards Sally - what a brilliant job. Your teapot is stunning as is your Zentangle cup. As far as I can find out there are no rules about using colour.

I like that teacup - super idea with the tea inside & I must admit I rather like the look of the first kettle too. It reminds of those old china utensils with lovely metal & wood trimmings.. I'd need more than one cup of tea trying to do this challenge - I cannot doodle - it just does not compute with my brain never mind a ONE LAYER, as for Zentangle......... well out of comfort zone.
Have a good week.

Hi Sally
Just been having a lovely catch up with all your stunning cards. I've missed so much after having a little Easter blogging break. I hope you had a lovely time with Lynne, it certainly looks a gorgeous part of the world and you seem to have missed the snow!!!
Your tree from the last post is a stunner, the scenes you create are breathtaking.
Love your doodled kettles too, especially the first one.
Hugs Lisax
