I hope you are well and coping in these strange times. Three weeks into social isolation here and this week I haven't had a whole lot of mojo. I've sat in front of my craft table and not done anything constructive, card-wise several times. It just didn't feel right to be having fun creating with everything that is going on. On Thursday I knew I had to get myself motivated to make a birthday card for Meg, which needed posting and I will share with you in due course, and finally found a bit of inspiration. After that I decided I should create a scene I'd like to walk through, even though the countryside is a little too far to walk to at the moment.
So here is my riverside scene with stamps mostly from Crafty Individuals except the one at the top, which is from Inkylicious. The background scene is on satin finish art card, brushed with very old adirondack inks. the background stamping was done with memento ink. I stamped the kingfisher in versafine clair onto watercolour card and coloured with zig clean color markers and a bit of white gel pen. Finally I cut her out, shaped her a little with an embossing tool and stuck her on with 3d glue. Did you know the female kingfisher has a black upper bill and a red lower bill?
I'm entering this at Allsorts, where the challenge is something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. The old is my adirondack inks in mountain rose, pool and peach bellini, and the blue is my kingfisher.
I'm also entering it at Penny Black and more, where the theme is Anything Goes.
I hope my card gives you the same feeling of peace that I got from making it. Maybe we could have a virtual stroll along the river and spot kingfishers together.
Thanks for looking!

We sound two of a kind Sally, like you I'm find crafting hard amidst all the horrors going on around us. I've also wondered about Meg on more than one occasion and if she has been called upon to join the front line as I know a couple of Azaria's Cambridge friends not yet into their final year who have been.
But I am so pleased to see you have created a beautiful card for her which I know she will love and lovely you could draw inspiration from time spent in the Countryside which I know you love.
Stay safe and thanks fro sharing with us at Allsorts and Penny Black and More.

I think everyone is having trouble with their mojo at the moment Sally, I know I seem to spend a great deal of time doing nothing but move stuff around my craftroom. You seem to have found your mojo for this stunning card and I'm sure that Megan is going to love it.
Take care and stay safe

A beautiful creation Sal. Happy Birthday to Meg and I hope you are all safe.
I too am suffering - just trying to get on doing all the DT stuff for the next year - it's likely all going to be rubbish as I am unable to concentrate for more than 10 minutes at a time!
We live right at the top of a very steep hill surrounded by countryside - can't walk it as I can't manage the walk back up the hill so am really frustrated at being deprived my trip in the car to the local reservoir where we normally walk every other day. So I will content myself with a dream of the riverbank as shown in your lovely creation! x
Happy Birthday to Meg. And glad to see you got inspiration to make this beautiful scene with the kingfisher as an eyecatcher. I realy love it.
Take care.
Greetings, Wies
What a beautiful card Sally, it certainly looks like somewhere I'd like to walk through too. Lovely images and stamping and the kingfisher is stunning.
Hope your daughter had a lovely birthday, and that you will be able to see her soon, keep safe, Kate x

Same here - three projects on the go but no motivation to carry on with them.
Anyway, enough of my moaning I came on here because your kingfisher struck me. What a lovely card but especially what a beautiful job you have made of colouring it in. Lovely.
Hugs, Neet xx
That is the most beautifully coloured kingfisher Sally and the softer backgrounds scene is just perfect to show her off. x
What a lovely project! Thank you for playing along with us at Allsorts this time.

I love your kingfisher so very life like. I didn’t know that about the coloured bill. I have lost my mojo but need to find it ASAP as I have a birthday card and two anniversary cards to make for family. Hugs Mrs A.
A lovely serene card! Thank you so much for playing along with the Penny Black and More challenge.
