A bit minimalist

Happy Sunday! Hope you are keeping warm. We woke up to a layer of snow this morning - very pretty, but not a great deal and now we have reached mid afternoon it is looking quite patchy. The light has been beautiful all day, though, casting a tinge of very pale apricot across the garden. I thought I would share a card that I made just before going back to work. I used some of my favourite colours - Peach Bellini, Mountain Rose, purple twilight and Eggplant. The stamps in the foreground are Stampscapes and I coloured them with distress markers and white gel pen. The hills were just masks and ink. The flourish on the corner was a new die I had for Christmas. I tried the card with 2 , but it covered up the detail in the foreground, so I just stuck a scrap triangle of black under the image. The black pieces were both scraps so I am entering this into Di's Crafty Snippets challenge. I know they are a tiny part of my scrap mountain but every little helps! It will be good to be in the playground again. I have been away too long!  This scene is a bit minimalist for me, and I am really tempted to put some birds in the sky or some dangling branches, but in the end I've gone with it as it is.
Well, I'd better go and see what I can find for my followers candy before I get tea ready. Thanks for looking!

Wow Sally - this is beautiful! Love the way you've done the reflections - ha, I'd be delighted to even manage to do the top part of the card.

Welcome back to the playground!

Hugs, Di xx

I think the minimalistic concept works perfectly here Sal as the colours say it all. To my mind it has a very romantic feel, a touch of the Maldives.

No snow here other than a flurry earlier and it was a lovely day but now ominous clouds are gathering.

Freya will be on her way to see you if you have snow, Sally, she's desperate for it and we have had nothing. It's been a gorgeous weekend though, cold but sunny. even managed a few hours in the garden yesterday.
Your scene is absolutely stunning. I could sit and look at it for hours, so restful. Reminds me of the Lake District. i love how you've done the foreground, it looks so textured.
Hope you have a good week.

Wow, Sally, this is gorgeous and just perfect as it is. The sky looks like the one you describe in your post - I love it when it looks like that. We've just had dull and grey all day.

No birds necessary, Sally, this is stunning! A beautifully tranquil scene.

We had quite a lot of snow today but it's thawing at the moment, though icy roads forecast for the morning. x

I love this card to bits. The names of the colours sound so exotic. Your mountains are fab and the use of the black card behind the picture is such a novel idea. Might have to nick it!! Hugs Mrs A.

This is such a delightful scene. I love the pink and blue combination and the shoreline in the foreground is so realistic.

This is so beautiful. I love your scene, and the colours are wonderful. We don't have any snow yet here in Northern Ireland, but the forecast doesn't look too good for the weekend. It's bloomin freezing though! Keep warm, Maddy x

I just LOVE the effect you achived with the corner die and the piece of card to balance the other corner -fantastic.
I used one of the pieces I embossed at your house today - for Pixies challenge.

Hi Sal

Finally catching up after the Christmas/New Year break and my week of no internet connection!!!

Loving your minimalist creation .. .. it is so easy to get lost in the scene if you stare at it long enough (and I have lol!!).

Gorgeous colours and I love the black .. .. very striking.

Hope all is good with you. I hear there was a little earthquake in Nottingham this morning .. .. was it anything to do with you?

Have a good weekend.

Love Jules xx

Oh my Sally, this one is stunning!!! The colours are fabulous and the design perfect. Love how you balanced the black diecut corner (that's beautiful btw) with the black triangle opposite. This would look gorgeous in a frame on the wall!
