I am taking the plunge and sharing with you my first ventures into art journalling. I am not really sure if I know what I am doing or not, but it was a good excuse to try out my portfolio pastels! I haven't written anything - I know that writing is a part of the process, so I will add words, but I quite like what I have done so far and don't want to spoil it!!! If you have any suggestions please let me know!
I am reasonably pleased with this first one. I like the way the colours blended when I used my water brush on the pastels.
This second one didn't turn out at all as I had imagined it, and I am still not sure I like it. I might have another go and start with the tree. I was inspired by this art, but I think my colours are too bright and not blended enough. I also need to think about using stamps, stencils and paints too!
Thanks for looking!

Wow, well done you for taking the plunge and getting it started! I've been wanting to do one for ages (years, even!) but am still staring at blank pages! Love both of these. Can't wait to see what comes next! x
These are fabulous and i mean both of them!! Love them!!
If you don't want to journal then don't or if you not sure what to write then leave it for a while and go back to it later or look for quotes on pinterest or other places because sometimes they can be inspiring!
I am glad you have taken the plunge into Art Journalling so welcome to the little art world of journalling which is so addictive and i mean addictive...i have been doing it a couple of months now and i simply just can't stop Lol
If your interested Chelle over at Journal52 have a free year-long workshop going on and we are on week 5 but i am sure it's not to late to join because i have noticed some more have just joined today.

I like both pages. The sunflower is so warm, and the tree is wonderful as well with all these bright colors.
My art journal is dormant - year round. So I've tried a new start and wonder where it will lead me.
May not be what you intended Sal, but what yummy colours. Good luck with the new venture I am sure you will nail it.

Well . . . GOOD FOR YOU for starting your Art Journal Sally. I know from personal experience that it's a daunting prospect . . . but once I started, OMG . . . I had SOOOOO MUCH FUN . . . which I think is the most important thing.
Keep going . . . you'll find your own style.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Good for you taking the plunge, they are fabulous.x
It's a strange world Art Journalling isn't it. I'm not sure about writing either……. I love the first one & I can see why you're pleased with the blending. The second one is a very interesting concept & I love the shape of the tree - you never know where either of these will go.

Good job so far Sally thank tou for sharing, the colours are beautiful xx Keep up the good work xxx
beautiful colours on both creations.
really fantastic made.
I am also trying to make an art-journal....my first time too.
yes..I am also afraid to spoil it.
great art where you inspired from.
It is your journal so you can do whatever you want with it. I think some nice words of wisdom that speak you to written along one side of the petals might be nice. I like the second page with all the swirls as well. The bright colors are fine with the exception of the red. It is a bit too bright. It's fun and I admire your journey into journaling!
Beautifully colourful. Journalling is whatever you want it to be and if you want to have just images and colour, that's your choice. Colour says a lot about how you're feeling and these bright, sunny pages show your character x
I don't journal and not very adept with pan pastels, not sure if that is anything like Portfolio Pastels. But I like both of these...I think you don't need to blend on #2...as it is very dramatic with the way you have it. I'm also with you on adding the words. I like the look when people do that, but I also like the clean bursts of color you have on this. If this is your first time, Big WOW! Well done. Looks like you had lots of fun too. (Much like stenciling! Only yours looks a lot better than my stenciling. Who knows...maybe I'll get brave enough to try this! Are you using mixed media paper in your journal or is it 140# w/color paper?) TFS & Hugs
