Rudolf day for April

Rudolf Day has snook up on me this month, but I remembered I had this little used Penny Black stamp and so made three quick one layer cards. I stamped in versamark and embossed in silver. This also gave me the opportunity to have a play with the new Distress ink colours, and for this one I used abandoned coral and cracked pistachio, before adding a bit of sparkle with jade and red sakura stardust pens and a water brush. The sentiment is a printed one from Craftwork Cards, perfect for sticking over dodgy stamping!
Here is a close up of the sparkle - you can just about see it
Next I had another go, this time managing to get the sentiment stamped straight (it is a very old one from stamporium, and no longer available), but without the sparkle.
And finally I tried another using mermaid lagoon and Cracked pistachio with a sentiment from Inkylicious
I like the new colours, but they are quite similar to some of those already out. Cracked pistachio is a paler version of evergreen bough, mermaid lagoon is similar to salty ocean and abandoned coral is quite like festive berries. These are all quite small cards - 4" square. I picked up a pack of these at the Range when I went to visit Lynne. With postage priced the way it is, more people will get one layer small cards than in the past.
I'd better pop these over to Scrappy Mo's Rudolf Days challenge and then make the most of the sunshine. I have student finance forms to fill in later.
Thanks for popping by!

Beautiful use of a very lovely stamp, Sal. Love it, was interested to read of your evaluation of new DI.

Also re the size of cards, if we sent a 4" x 4" card we would have to pay more post because it was not big enough, our standard sizes have a max and min size for post and it would be too small, curious isn't it?

Woozers! That poinsettia stamp is awesome. I love each version. Totally get the added sentiment...I can not stamp straight for the life of me. Seems all my sentiments "list".
lol

A trio of gorgeousness!

Thanks for taking part in the April Rudolph Dasy Challenge. Good luck in the draw.

Sally, you have used this fabulous stamp in 2 wonderful looks. Of course I love the traditional colors but that blue & green is just exotic. I have this stamp (I think I do anyway!), and I would never think to try it with the blue. Great work on both cards...it's a very elegant look. It's plain to see your MoJo is not missing!!! LOL

Two gorgeous cards Sally. I love the blue one (although have to admit I've never seen one that is that colour in real life).

Sue xx

Have just got back from a weekend away and my trees die was waiting for me on the door mat.

Beautiful poinsettias, love the blue one and the silver embossing.
Interested in your views on the DIs, I was wondering if I needed them! I don't have festive berries so may get the coral one.
Thanks for leading me to Rudolph days challenges, I love making Christmas cards but do get quite stressed later in the year

I love what you've done with the stamp. Thanks for the advice re the new colours - we're often made to feel like we're missing out if we don't buy the latest colours etc, but I'll save my money for something else now!

I like the blue color almost better than the red. And why not go a bit wild about those poinsettias? Beautifully done, Sally.
