Not my colour!

Our Mid month Challenge for the DT at Stamping Sensations is to choose our least favourite colour and create something using that colour. I have chosen to use  pink! I never wear pink myself and I remember getting very cross in Mothercare when Meg was a baby, as half the store was pink and half was blue, with no other colours available! Fortunately there seems to be more choice now. The shade of pink I like the least is what I call Barbie Pink. If you have ever walked down that isle at Toys r Us you will know what I mean! Anyway, back to my card.

As we are being sponsored by Crafty Individuals this month I thought I would use their stamps for my card. First I stamped a flower from CI 206 in picked raspberry distress ink all over a 7x7 card. I then stamped around the edges with the same ink using CI 116. Next I dusted some more picked raspberry around the edges. I embossed a square of pink card with Victoriana cuttlebug embossing folder and distressed with white ink. Taking a piece of the same pink card, I stamped C1 134 using versafine black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and heat set. Then I matted this onto some silver mirri card and layered onto the embossed pink card...and now I am going for a lie down!
Thanks for looking and don't forget you still have time to enter our floral theme over on the challenge blog!
If you fancy seeing something more calming then scroll down and take a look at the robin I photographed yesterday ;)

Lol! I know exactly what you mean about pink, especially the Barbie one! One of my grand daughters loves it, yuk!!! The only pinks I can stand are dusky, victorian type shades.

Having said all that, you have made a lovely card Sally and the design and stamps used are beautiful.

I'm not keen of pink myself Sally and know just what you mean about mothercare and I'm going back 31 years now. However you've made a beautiful card in pink, and there are lots of people out there that do like just this shade.

Well it may not be your colour Sally, but you've made a lovely card regardless. xxx

Pink may be your least favourite colour but you have still made a lovely card using it. I like some pinks but must admit that bright pink is not my favourite. I love the way you stamped the background for this and the main image looks great.

You've created a lovely card with your least favourite colour Sally! Love those stamps. Pink is a no go for me too and I've just finished a commission for a pop up box card using bright pink, silver and plenty of bling! I needed a lie down after that :0)

Considering you don't like the colour, it really is a beautiful card with texture. Love it
Hope you enjoyed your lying down LOL.

Laughed about your pinks philosophy. I like most pinks (not Barbie & PeptoBismal pink though!) but I can't wear it. I'm an 'autumn'. Our DD loved pink as a kid, then went on a purple phase. As a teen she liked grays (dreadful color for her as well!)You did splendidly with a challenging color, and it's very dramatic with the black. Love the way you did the bkground and reversed the colors for the mat. The embossing part stands out so nicely. The black & pink florals are most dramatic with the scant silver mat. You did great! Beautiful card, Sally, even though it's pink! Well, not every shade of pink is bad. I know exactly what you mean by "Barbie pink" - no, I don't like that color either! But there are such beautiful shades of pink that are hard to resist (I'm think of some wonderful pink hues and shades in nature...)
