A Walk in the Woods

Grab yourself a cuppa and a chair. This is a picture heavy post!
This afternoon Meg, Steve and I went for a wander around Ploughman's Wood, a small but beautiful local nature reserve about ten minutes drive away from home. I took my camera (okay, I have hardly put it down since I got it!) and took quite a few photos!
We went to see the bluebells, which were beautiful
 as were the wood anemones...
There was also a lot of greater stitchwort and the hawthorn was just coming out too.
In the woods the lesser celandines were like little stars shining.
We also heard lots of skylarks, saw yellowhammers,
 several large bumble bees
and some tiny spiders. This last photo was taken by Megan and she managed to capture the webspinning in progress.

It was such a lovely afternoon, and we will definitely be going for a stroll around there again soon. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Wow, stunning photos, Sally! No wonder you're so pleased with your new camera. Mind you, any camera is only as good as the person behind it. You certainly have an eye for a good shot. x

Lovely photos Sal, gorgeous bluebells and things look a little further ahead up there, the May is only just showing a hue of colour here. But you can be sure of some photos when it's in bloom, I adore it and we have a whole hedgerow of it which my Dad planted.

I am as impressed with you knowing the names of all of the plants as the photos themselves, which are exquisite! It looks a wonderful place for a walk.

Wonderful photos Sally, lovely English bluebells, such a lovely colour. We're a bit further behind you here but the bluebells are just showing colour and as for celandines, they are the bane of my life in the garden, spread like wildfire, I have spent 20 years battling with them and they are still winning LOL

OH! gorgeous English countryside shown off in it's splendour. (and new camera LOL) I'm also VERY impressed you know the names of the birds. I'm OK with some plants, but, the birds, we don't see enough variety to be able to identify them, you are so lucky to be able to see them.

Looks like a walk that has to be done slowly to not miss out on all the beauty! Hugs, Gerrina
