Cake and a card

This is a Hummingbird Cake. My version isn't very pretty, but I prefer to just have the cream cheese frosting in the middle and not all over it. I got the recipe from the Hummingbird Bakery Cook book (brought by Santa), but there is a very similar version here. If you like banana cake and carrot cake you will love it. It is very moist and has bananas and pineapple in it. I made it yesterday, but by teatime there was only half left!
The card is another using the Funky flowers rubber stamp plate from The Stamp Man. It's my MIL's birthday next week, so this one is for her. The rose is covering a blob of glue that was in the wrong place! The leaf punch was another pressie. The flowers are coloured with sakura stardust pens and a water brush... oh yes and a touch of pastel blue promarker.

Hi Sally, both the cake and the card look gorgeous. I won't pop round for coffee and cake though as unfortunately I love pineapple but HATE bananas, Lol.

Don't ya just love those leaf punches?

Have a lovely day!

Hi Sally

So pleased you did this post, bnecause I have been wondering what Humming Bird cake was after your mentioned it.

Will check out the link as judging by your description my hubby will love it. Confess that since I've been diabetic I don't cook sweet stuff too often (poor hubby I hear you say - but I do treat him to a cake when I go to the bakers)but think I might give this a try.

Hi Sally. Every time I visit I put on at least 2lb, you have such delicious treats. This looks lovely, one I will have to try once all the Christmas cake has gone.
Your pink Funky flowers are lovely. That rose is perfectly placed. Your MIL will love it.
I'm trying to catch up with my JYC book so no proper crafting has been done here over the hols, still I'm enjoying doing my book so will have lots of things to play with once it's finished.
Hope the weather's not too bad down your way, it's just grey and cold here, all the snow has gone!
If I'm not about again have a wonderful New Year. Love to you and all your family for 2010. Hope to catch up with you again sometime in the New Year.
Enjoy your crafing.
